Vote for my Journal!

So i didn't work on my paint for an entire month! It doesn't seem like that much time has passed, but did move in that time period. I've been busy :)

Here are the other two installments of my painting in progress:

Anyway, i believe i finished the sky, i don't think you can tell from the photo, but it is painted thickly with obvious brush strokes. I worked the shape of the trees in as well, the paint from the sky was textured, so it was necessary to work in the shape of the trees while it was still wet.

Banshee has deleted her journal. I would think that i would have been able to see that coming, but it was totally out of the blue (for me atleast). I hope she reconsiders, i know there are many, many people who enjoy reading her journal, and seeing her art.

It spooky it's so quiet here today. All the old employees have been replaced by fresh faced interns, their souls not yet crushed. Where the hell is teddy?? I never see him anymore, he must be off plotting with Stephen...

Mermaid parade this weekend, i'm pretty psyched. I'm a bit worried though, it seems like everyone and their mom are going. It had more of an underground feeling last year. This year they are charging admission.

crazy guy
So there has been a crazy guy in our office for the last two hours.

Apparently this guy interviewed here about a year ago for a project manager position. He came into our office and sat in our conference room and refused to leave. He remembered my friend Stephen from the interview and wanted to talk to him.

At first i thought he was disgruntled because we never called him back or something. But apparently he had just lost it. He told Stephen that he came here because he felt that it was safe, and that he had something to say. He just had to collect his thoughts...

The people in charge here had no idea what to do. He just sat there staring at the wall for the longest time. He was not violent or anything, but eventually the police and EMS took him away. I hope he is getting help now...

We had a relatively uneventful weekend, which was a blessing after the last few hellish weeks. I did do a little drawing, no painting yet since my easel is still incomplete (soon!).

Nothing else to report, i hope to post something visual soon.

All those who requested should be getting a postcard soon!

I'm also making good progress with my shotgun approach to mailing these things out to galleries. With Melissa's help i managed to get all the way through SoHo, and half way through Chelsea. I want to sent a postcard to every gallery in downtown Manhattan by tonight.

I do fully realize that there is very little chance that i will get any response at all. But the postcards were very cheap, and who knows, maybe it will cause someone to look at my website and see more. Or even more unrealistic, maybe there will be a last minute cancellation in a group show and i'll get my work out there! Okay, maybe not...

Still, worth a try...

On the way to work today i bought a pecan roll and a decaf coffee, my first coffee of any form in about two weeks. Halfway to work the bag gave way and the coffee splattered on the sidewalk.

Not a good start.

Banner news! My postcards finally came in the mail! In case you missed my other posts, i had postcards made up of one of my paintings, and i'm going to mail them out to about a bazillion galleries.

If you want to get their very own postcard you can email me your address at mail@michaeldimauro.com

For those of you that don't read banshee's journal, we are currently in the process of moving to Brooklyn. I'm not going to be around much the next couple of days, but i promise, as soon as we are settled i'll start working on my painting again and posting the progress.

My company made it onto Fucked Company. We aren't allowed to post... I can pretty clearly tell who posted anyway though.

I'm proud of my devils, they had a fantastic season, and they took it as far as they could. You can't win the cup every year :)

They played 107 games this year, i probably missed 4 of them. Thanks for all the drama, i'll see you all (hopefully) in september!

Actually it was 8 people, the number 7 didn't include one guy who didn't have his contract continued... At least i didn't know the 8th guy all that well.

They just gave us the whole, "we aren't really going out of business" speech.

Reorganizing they called it. They said that our company will get lots of pats on the back from our VCs. That makes me so happy.

Well it ended up being 7 people getting sacked. Two of which i ate lunch with almost everyday, two more who i would consider friends as well.

We are so going to be on fucked company.

Ugh, the firing rumors are true, just not about me... (yet)

One of my best friends here just got sacked, as well as our two sales people. I asked my boss if our department was okay, he said "pretty much", then i think i caught him glancing at a certain inept web developers desk. He said i shouldn't worry.

The original rumor was three people, which has been fullfilled, but maybe they will tack on a fourth just for kicks.

I finished blocking in the color, and worked on the face a bit. I also used my palette knife to create texture on the roof that the figure is standing on, not that you can tell in this picture.

Hey, all of you Radiohead fans out there, if you have AIM add "GooglyMinotaur" to your buddy list and ask it a question. It's pretty cool.
